Public Meeting on Drug Disposal

On January 19 and 20, 2011, DEA conducted a public meeting to discuss the development of procedures for the surrender of unwanted controlled substances by ultimate users and long term care facilities. Specifically, this meeting allowed all interested persons—the general public including ultimate users, pharmacies, law enforcement, reverse distributors, and other third parties—to express their views of the most safe and effective method of disposal of controlled substances while following the Controlled Substances Act and taking into account the new Public Law 111-273 the Secure and Responsible Drug Disposal Act of 2010 (PDF).
