Chemical Industry Conference

June 22, 2022 – Virtual Event

Introduction

The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Diversion Control Division, hosted its 14th Chemical Industry Conference on June 22, 2022. With 190 chemical industry representatives registered, attendees received information on precursor chemical diversion and trafficking trends; import/export requirements; requirements regarding regulated equipment such as tableting and encapsulating machines; and information on DEA registration, quotas, and chemical control actions.

DEA's partners from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations, and International Narcotics Control Board also presented and participated in the question and answer sessions.

The chemical industry is the first line of defense in preventing the diversion of listed chemicals and the precursors used to make illegal drugs. This conference is one way the Diversion Control Division uses to encourage communication and cooperation between DEA and the regulated chemical community to combat diversion and address the overdose crisis facing this nation.
