The Drug Enforcement Administrations Office of Diversion Control is
currently planning four, two-day Pharmaceutical Training Seminars. The first
two seminars will be hosted in Tampa, Florida from April 14 - 17, 2008 at the
Embassy Suites Downtown Tampa, located at 513 S. Florida Avenue, Tampa,
Florida 33602. The DEA has secured a group rate for this location at $209.00
(per night) plus applicable taxes and fees (currently 12%). After you have
received confirmation from DEA regarding your attendance, please call for
reservations no later than March 13, 2008 at (813)-769-8300 or
1-(800)-Embassy. In order to secure this room rate, reference the "DEA
Pharmaceutical Training Seminar room block" when making your reservation.
Tampa International Airport is located ten minutes from downtown. Blue One
Transportation has non-stop airport transportation to and from Embassy Suites
Downtown Tampa. No reservations are needed. Call the transportation hotline
(813)-927-3602 when your flight lands. You will then be directed to the
nearest ground transportation area which is located at each end of the baggage
claim area. The fair is $12.00 one way for single passengers or $10.00 one way
per passenger for groups of two or larger.
The second two seminars will be hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah from May 12
- 15, 2008 at the Marriott Salt Lake City Center, located at 220 S. State
Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84111. The DEA has secured a group rate for this
location at $159.00 (per night) plus applicable taxes and fees (currently
12.71%). After you have received confirmation from DEA regarding your
attendance, please call for reservations not later than April 18, 2008 at
(801)-961-8700. In order to secure this room rate, reference the "DEA
Pharmaceutical Training Seminar" when making your reservation.
Salt Lake City International Airport is 15 minutes away. The most economic
transportation is the Express Shuttle which runs every 30 minutes and is $7.00
each way. Taxi cabs average $17.00 $22.00.
The four seminars (identical in content), will cover quotas, year-end
reporting, ARCOS reporting, import/export permits and declarations, scheduled
investigations, and the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act. DEA will also
include content regarding the registration process for manufacturers and
importers of Schedule I and II controlled substances. Please review the tentative
agenda for additional details.
There is no registration cost for the seminar; however attendees will be
required to pay for both their travel to the seminars and their accommodations
in either Tampa or Salt Lake City. You are not required to stay at the hotels
listed above however DEA will be unable to assist in finding an alternative
location.
To register for the 2008 Pharmaceutical Training Seminars, DEA registered
manufacturers, importers and exporters are invited to complete the registration application.
