National Conference on
Drug and Chemical Diversion

This conference is held on a yearly basis and is one of the mechanisms used by the Office of Diversion Control to facilitate continued communication and cooperation with our state and local counterparts.

17th National Conference on
Drug and Chemical Diversion
Charleston, South Carolina,
June 17-19, 2008

The Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) Office of Diversion Control is planning the 17th National Conference on Drug and Chemical Diversion in Charleston, South Carolina, June 17-19, 2008. The purpose of this national conference is to bring together state officials who represent all areas of pharmaceutical diversion control to meet DEA counterparts. Participants will also have an opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences as well as discuss current trends, regulatory control, and enforcement strategies.

The meeting is by invitation only and is intended for individuals from state agencies who are responsible for policy-level regulatory drug control and operational law enforcement personnel who focus on the diversion of licitly manufactured controlled substances.

The 2008 conference will address the growing trend of prescription drug abuse and strategies being taken by federal and state authorities to stem illegal activities without adversely impacting legitimate healthcare systems. Agenda items will include issues on Pseudoephedrine Tracking Programs, Buprenorphine Abuse, Physician Education Programs, and DEA legal, regulatory, and scheduling updates.

If you did not receive an invitation and would like to attend this conference as a representative of a state regulatory or law enforcement agency, please contact Conference Coordinator Mandy Lord at mandy.h.lord@usdoj.gov or (202) 307-7297.
